To paraphrase Japanese author Haruki Murakami, “What To Talk About When You Talk About Digital Assets,” would make a good book title and one with ample reading material. The problem is that unless it’s a history, it would quickly be irrelevant, since the world of digital assets evolves so rapidly.

This time last year we were still in what is referred to as ‘crypto winter,’ and now the industry sits at a total market cap of over $2 trillion, with investors jumping onto the Bitcoin Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) bandwagon..….Continue reading….

A digital asset management solution is a software and systems solution that provides a systematic approach to efficiently storing, organizing, managing, retrieving and distributing an organization’s digital assets. A DAM and a CMS act as two completely separate systems, performing very different functions for a marketing team. In a nutshell, a CMS helps manage content for your website, while a DAM helps manage content for your entire organization across multiple channels.

This career requires a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Additional qualifications include knowledge of digital asset management software, strong communication skills, and several years of prior management experience, often with a specific asset management system. Is Google Drive a Digital Asset Management Solution?

Yes. Google Drive does provide basic digital asset management. However, many organizations upgrade to a dedicated DAM solution as the number and size of the files in their digital asset library increases. Digital Content Management (DCM) is synonymous with Digital Asset Management. Although technically it specifically relates to media content as opposed to general data assets, in practical terms there is no difference between the two descriptions.

Perhaps the most well-known form of digital assets, cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, are digital currency that are secured by cryptography via the blockchain. Cryptocurrency users can utilize these digital assets for numerous reasons, such as using them as a form of payment or investing in them. Content management solutions share many of the same features as digital asset management solutions, but they differ in the way they utilize those features to create value for the user.

The primary function of a CMS is to enable users with the ability to publish, remove, and edit content on their website. Digital asset managers are responsible for managing an organization’s digital assets, including audio recordings, videos, and images; and text files, such as blog posts, ebooks, and marketing copy. They use Digital Asset Management (DAM) systems to acquire, catalog, manage, and protect these assets.

Not really, and here’s why: A DAM platform has key characteristics that distinguish it from other content platforms like Microsoft SharePoint. Here are the top three differences between DAM and SharePoint: DAM has built-in business-specific metadata and taxonomy, SharePoint does not. Everyone who files Forms 1040, 1040-SR, 1040-NR, 1041, 1065, 1120, 1120 and 1120S must check one box answering either “Yes” or “No” to the digital asset question.

The question must be answered by all taxpayers, not just by those who engaged in a transaction involving digital assets in 2023. To clarify further, a digital asset can include any of the following: Email accounts. Social media accounts. Online banking accounts. Digital assets are often in the form of computers, external hard drives or flash drives, laptops, tablets, smartphones, digital music players, e-readers, digital cameras, and similar devices.

Digital asset management systems empower businesses to harness customer data and insights effectively for better decision-making.

By leveraging DAM’s analytics capabilities, companies can gain valuable information about customer preferences, behaviors, and engagement patterns.
