Microplastics and nanoplastics, tiny particles shed by plastics that end up in the environment, have been linked to human health problems such as heart attacks, strokes, and death, according to a landmark study. The study found that nearly 60% of people undergoing surgery had microplastics or nanoplastics in a main artery, and those with these particles were 4.5 times more likely to experience these health issues.
While the study does not conclusively prove that the plastics are causing these problems, it is seen as a launching pad for further research on the risks posed by microplastics and nanoplastics….story continues…
